Missing home during the holidays

Now that the holidays are over (do I hear, “Wait! Happy Three Kings still to come!”?) and we’re back to the usual daily grind and routine, I couldn’t help but think of those kababayans of ours who are stationed thousands of miles away from home and while wanting very much to be with family and loved ones during the holidays were unfortunate not to be able to come home, either due to work or financial constraints or other personal reasons.

Lost in the holiday rush, the endless parties, reunions  and other get-togethers was the otherwise mute and un-Christmassy regular scenes in the suburbs around Tacloban City.

To those missing home, let me share then some photos taken the day before Christmas – and imagine getting a whiff of the tiniest melody being sang in the background, that of “Silent Night”…

  3. @Leo: The first 2 pix shown above (& elsewhere in the gallery) were taken at Brgy. Caluwayan, Marabut, Samar. The 3rd one is along the road going to Babatngon, Leyte.
