If this is “The Nest,” could this be “The Egg”? 😉
(Above) Dubbed as “The Nest” – the main venue of the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
Could this be “The Egg”? 😉
Nope, it’s not.
But I’ll have to say it was the first thing that crossed my mind when I first saw it at Andrews Avenue at the rotunda in front of Villamor Air Base, near the new Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 or simply NAIA 3 – the country’s premiere, albeit controversial, airport.
It’s the unfinished Layag Islas (Islands in Flight) which copped the top prize of P500,000 for the “Circulo Del Mundo” category of the MMDA-sponsored contest held 2008 with the aim of looking for the best artistic and architectural design for the rotundas along Andrews Avenue in Pasay city leading to the NAIA 3.
The winning sculpture is a collaborative effort of a team composed of Adrian Lorenzo, Alfredo Alfonso, Carlo Tibajua, Chris Jimenez, Keith David, Maria Mynn Alfonso and Karen Marie Nanguit.
Here’s their winning entry:
